Hi Paul,

I love the colours in this one  I'm glad you enjoyed the picture,

Thank-you, this one Was'nt an easy one to take, (breeze kept

on moving the inflorescence around,) But thanks to

Digital. Save's heaps of time and money, and heart ache.

Cheers...Mikey. :)

Hello Ari :)

I also still use the name Gronophyllum, As do most people

I know, There not mottled, it's another thing with this Beauty

The Entire leaf has more of a ripple present thoughout the

whole leaf surface. Ari how's the weather being for you guys very

Weird here at the moment, wet starts, stops, goes

away and now it's wanting to come back,, ???  not a good sign,

I think were in for a rough one this year for sure.

So Batten things down early be on the

safe side , Catch-up later

Best Wishes Mikey.  :)

It must be the ripple that makes it look mottled. Nice, nonetheless.

It has been weird here too. We haven't had any decent storm for a week now. We had rain, but around 5-10mm every day. Usually with decent storm, we are geting 20-30mm.

Anyway, someone I know predicted that we would be getting hammered in between Christmas and New Years and would be getting around 400mm. There is also a low on the Gulf of Carpentaria. So, the next few days would be interesting. We are doing cyclone clean up at the moment. Scott has to get organised and clean up around the shed. Planting and digging holes have to stop.

:) Hi Gene,

Theres one  (In situ) that was growing in very bright light.

Not to sure if it was full sun, have to check that out for you.

It's from the Bewani Ranges in West Sepik, P.N.G

And that One had a split leaf, because of this thats why  the

Name was pulled out of a hat,   I'm sure only because of

that one Plant had a split leaf This name was applied. ???

Be nice if a local name was used, Filawoi-yamu.

Personally Looks better in Filtered light no need for plant

them in complete understorey.

Cheers for now

Mikey.

Hi Ari,

At least Scotts got a change for a bit, Now he can stand

up and streach out, Not that we want any blows,

I've heard the same, Were in for changes..

Best wishes

Mikey.

Hey Mikey,

Nice photos on this palm. I've never even heard of it before this thread. If I'm pronouncing the local name for it correctly, the local name has a nice ring to it!

Worthy of a resurrection , as just picked up a little one today .

Some good info from the seller is that it comes from sago swamps in northern New Guinea and grows with Sommieria affinis and Linospadix albertsiana . Here is the little beauty I paid nearly $50 for [ the price I saw them for 16 years ago]. post-354-008445800 1291547625_thumb.jpg

Cannot find my pictures I took of parent plants , but they are up on PACSOA for all to drool over .

Michael in palm paradise,

Tully, wet tropics in Australia, over 4 meters of rain every year.

Home of the Golden Gumboot, its over 8m high , our record annual rainfall.

What a beauty. How old is it? I can understand why Gronophyllum is now Hydriastele, it looks very similar to my Siphokentia beguinii.

DROOOOOLLL

Wow I really want one!!

Where can you get seeds of those ???

Mikey got any seeds??? hehe

They look a bit like Hydrastelle flabelatta but those are definitely more eye catching. Love the wide leaves and the undulation all through out the surface
