2025/2026 Winter

Featured Replies

So I just saw this graphic that shows what kind of winter this has been, and it's pretty clear that mother nature has been trying to tap into some recent past years' storminess. Hopefully about done for the season.

Spring like signs are evident but winter sometimes has a way of reminding us it's not over just yet. So far only the banana leaves are frosted and the pseudo-stems stand. Chilly weather will linger a while longer.

This is about what I had in mind for Florida based on the recent event.

What recent event would cause above average predicted temperatures there?

The cold spell that Florida had in early February.

I just moved outside a bunch of T.fortunei and S.minor plants. I see we're expecting two or three nights in the mid-20's, F this weekend. I may just leave them out and cover them.at this point. More delicate stuff is still inside.

I bet they'll be fine I have two S.minor sitting outside right now, I'll bring them in a couple of days we have a couple days that will be in the 30s then we'll be back to the mid-high 40s and 50s.

Probably I'll cover them with a tarp to trap some ground heat. I have three rows of 2x6s straddling cement blocks.

Yeah definitely a smart idea. I might do that with mine they are pretty big so I don't really want to bring them in

Just checked NOAA. It says Monday overnight, 22°F. It was 70° today.

After a week of nice temperatures looks like winter is coming back. Tomorrow we are supposed to get snow, I don't even know how much I've seen maybe 10 different maps today ranging from 1-3 inches, to 10-12 inches, I've checked different weather apps some of them say it's snow and some of the other ones say it's a winter mix so who knows. But thankfully it will be in the mid 50s by wednesday

This winter storm is pretty crazy.! Coastal places like new york and new jersey are getting over 20" of snow. many places in coastal new jersey will have wind gusts over 60 miles an hour!, parts of Long Island will have wind gusts us over 75 miles an hour! thankfully, here in south-central Pennsylvania, the snow won't be that bad. Maybe 4 inches.

Welp

It was 80 yesterday, 35 when I woke up, and now it's 50. Once again snow went to the north (literally 9 miles north) of us and to the south of us and we just got cold and wind again. Oh. And rain. More rain. I keep trying to gauge how long it'll take for water to drain out of this Muck Hole® I dug in my backyard, and it's rained every other day since so I'm just assuming it's a lake now and will never drain.
