Hurricane Harvey

A very unhappy birthmas to Hurricane Harvey who formed today in 2017. I honestly don't have tons of damage photos, I lived between Spring Creek and the San Jacinto River at the time, and the Grand Parkway and all of the accompanying developments had just been built, so there was some serious puckering moments. After the floodwaters receded, I couldn't wait to just put on some UGK and drive downtown just to see my favorite piece of street art in the world. Every time I drove under this bridge, it was like a mental reset for me. The positive vibes... Cruise under this bridge and then go to my favorite taco spot, the El Rey on the corner of Washington and Shepherd and all was right in the world.

 

I hope this is still there. Someone painted over it once, and they repainted it. IMHO it should be a historical landmark.

Peak Houston lol 

I was in college during that time and drove past Be Someone and the Gulf Freeway lined with Livistona decora everyday 😭

(It has been painted over many times in recent years along with several attempts to recreate it 🥲)

I miss it a lot. God help me I even miss the traffic. The only thing I don't miss is the massive pothole on I45N South at the exit for 610N East. Htine hol it dine! I just wish I had gotten into plants before I moved to Huntsville. Sounds like I missed out on making lots of friends and deals lol.
