Richard, I'm very happy to have this species of chamaedorea, because in Europe they are not found.

These are a lovely species and grow very quickly too. They are very hard to find here now too. You will be pleased in a couple of years from now.

Harry I had 40 species of chamaedorea, most of them in pots, I was ill for about 5 years, I couldn't water them, and I lost almost everything, how sad

So sorry for your loss , that had to be devastating ….on top of the threat to your health. I know how I feel if just one of my palms suffers . Harry

These are gorgeous too, but I can't see myself paying almost $500 for a chamaedorea.

What heck iam sitting on a fortune then in my nursery I got 90 of them, looks like the John and sancho building complex can go ahead this week, do you want a spa in there while we are at it might as well I just suddenly become rich due a dear old aunt who left me some magic palm seeds in the form of a mysterious chamaedorea variety!

According to the post they're so expensive because he propogates from cuttings because there's no female pollen. But hell man, if you've got seed I can germinate and sell them for half the price and I'll only have to sell like 10 to pay for Sancho's knee surgery.

I'll pass on the spa though, my meds make me really sensitive to heat but if you want one, go nuts. Make it look like the apartment from Coming To America lol. I doubt he sells much, I looked at his eBay store and it's all like super high end stuff that only a serious collector would want.

I left mine behind when I moved house but they look rather like C klotziana but the flower buds look like a little cob of corn. They are edible but taste like raw peas. (blechh) Fine in the cold but can croak quickly if the water is not kept up enough in summer.
