Richard , what is the defining feature versus the C. Macrocarpa? I see a lighter color crown shaft . I was at the Sullivan’s garden the other day and they have a very robust Chembroynia that has seeds and I’ve been invited to take any seeds I can find in the garden. Harry

It’s the yellow crownshafts and petioles, plus the brighter red new leaves.

Hi Harry your back! I have two one of each variety next to each other and the colour difference is simply chalk and cheese, yellow and green colour. Get all the seeds you can they seem to be very popular in the US 🇺🇸

A lovely little palm, once they get past that stage they put on a bit growing pace, they say kentia are slow to me Chambeyronia are slower. Has your one always had a red leaf or is it starting to develop more red with age?

Seems that they start out with just a bit of red color but intensifies with age.  Here's what a new leaf looked like in June after planting in March.

I grew a batch of 600 chams once and also noticed they slowly developed more red as they got older. They are all about the size of your one and are displaying that Rex trait with more age.

I really need to find more seeds of these because I'm pretty sure I cooked mine. Richard, yours look amazing against the greenhouse - just the color contrast of the 2 shades of green is amazing.

There a top palm worth growing. I don’t have any hookeri seeds but I do get macrocarpa seeds leave it with me. The colour at times of the day changes there and when I get 2 or 3 with new red leaves it’s eye candy time.

It gets down to 2 degrees Celsius. Winter here is about cold for about 7 weeks of single digits, sometimes cold wet weather. Around about now the last 3 weeks of winter the tropical palms I grow a few are saying I don’t like it, then it warms up again and you can hear the tropicals say thank goodness!

Hopefully a kind and benevolent domestic source will find some laying around because you already know what my dumb ass did with the last seeds I had. I haven't given up hope but I'm pretty sure they roasted in their shells. Most people say what, a month germination and we're almost at 2 years now.

Just place them in coco peat in a deep community pot plactic bag over the pot and sit them a warm place like on top of your refrigerator, the one that’ has all those cool refreshing drinks in that the dropped off!
