Ok so i finally decided to try a mapu, i wasnt going to bother with all that indoors outdoors stuff for years on end. So I germinated this one and it was tough it out or die in the greenhouse, others are failing around it yet it keeps on living even pushing a new spear. I will give it another 3 weeks and see how it goes, then if it lives the mapu myth could be busted for now, but iam surprised so far winter is not over yet!

With you being an indoor grower, it will challenge you pushing your grow skills to the max. And most likely it cheap either.

You know what's funny?

Since I've been keeping up with everything, I haven't killed anything in a while. I kind of got into a funk when I realized there's just no way I could handle going back to work and a couple things died - unfortunately one of them was a $75 Pritchardia that I have wanted for a really long time - but what's dying now ain't my fault. I've added more lights, everything gets misted nightly -my planters are all sitting in various trays and I make sure the water drains out of all of the planters, I empty the trays of stuff that doesn't like wet feet. It's been a while since I mixed up "stink water" for them (it's fish emulsion, kelp/seaweed and chelated iron) but it's been almost a year since anything died. I've got a philodendron and some donor Trachies that look rough, and I've got a Licuala Spinosa that could look better but it's sibling looks good. I'm really impressed with how well the red Latan handled all the neglect - they're tough and make great houseplants. I've got a little UV light that kills the fungus gnats and flies, I haven't seen any of them in months and I've probably got 40 plants in this bedroom. I've put my seed baggies inside containers on the heat mats so they don't get as hot, I'm going back and resoaking some old seeds to see if that helps them germinate. It's almost like I'm learning from all of the mistakes I've made over the last few years 😂 I've been watering the outside stuff every day if it doesn't rain, and just the little time I work out there pulling grass and this stupid obnoxious weed from hell SOB MF POS wisteria gets me lots of cardio. And while growing from seeds is tedious and frustrating as hell sometimes, I can look at these plants and there's a satisfaction, almost like I created life from dirt. And it all takes my mind off of most of my problems for a little bit.

Wax on wax off grasshopper you are learning congratulations you earned your certificate 2 in palm cultivation. Keep it simple don’t overwater, know the palms you are growing and good free draining soil!
