I happen to have a Wallichia across from some Wettinias close to my house.

I am guessing many PT readers have at least one palm whose genus begins with the letter W.

I will begin posting mine, but I am counting on you to help fill in the rest.

Here’s my only Wallichia marianniae.

I do have other Wallichia and Wettinia spp as yet to be recently photographed so stay tuned.

Next is my only Welfia regia whose new red leaf is beautiful, but fades to green quickly.

I do wish I had more of these.

I do believe you have a wallichia densifolia already. I should have seeds available soon from my one,

Cindy, the red may fade quickly, but the green tree is most handsome,  we saw this palm on a past IPS Biennial to Costa Rica.

The genus Wodyetia is monotypic, ( contains only one species)  :mrlooney:

You choose a hard letter not many W palms out there. I do remember those days  for letter of the day on Sesame Street oh the Cookie Monster was the best!

Another beautiful palm, they do need an open spot to be fully enjoyed. It’s amazing how in some places they set seeds absolutely loaded to the hilt, yet in my climate i may get up to 50 seeds only at a time, its definitely a heat humidity thing that helps seeds set in abundance, or the pollinater insects play a big role in certain countries.

Foxtails (Wodyetia bifurcata) grow very well in Puerto Rico-fast too.


The landscaping nurseries do have these for sale and they are in the highway medians even in groupings of 2-4. 

These are my largest ones, but I have 5 more elsewhere. 
Lots of seed so I may grow up some more.

I don’t recall seeing any hurt by hurricanes here either, but did have one youngster killed by an ox beetle.

No Wallichia "flat palm" fotos? Wodyetias now that is a genus that has just exploded in (well-deserved) popularity! 

They can be seen all over the world, no? Unheard of before the 1980s💜✌️😅🌴
