I have a great view here facing southeast and west . It is the reason we bought this house 28 years ago. Our main bedroom , living room , kitchen and dining room are all on the view side of our home. Most of the south facing side of the house is glass with a stackable glass sliding door to merge our living room with the deck.We extended the deck space by adding a retainer wall many years ago . Two years ago we had a large stamped concrete slab to replace the flagstone that was not practical. Harry

‘The deck is about 60’ wide , this is right off our living room.

I don't have a deck but here's a palmy view from my back patio.  My largest palms are to the right of this shot.

I just love it Harry, that’s just a real California feel right down to the mountains! Can I ask have those mountains been learned or that’s natural, mostly in Australia in my area if you see a mountain like that it has been clear felled of vegetation.

Must be time to build a deck then. A nice three story tower would be the go, I always wanted a tower deck! 

The back deck views.  Furniture and catio are all covered for the overnight dew, so none of the actual deck is in either photo.

Now that is a place to sit and have breakfast that’s for sure very impressive!

West view usually looks like first pic but this AM it was the second pic.

View just after sunrise was nice today from the lanai.  Early in the day, the sun gets under the canopy and the flame burns.

Front street view just to show the summer dought conditions. Lawns don't stand a chance. Many believe it's always rainy in the PNW. Two seasons, wet and dry.

That Chambeyronia just takes the cake, solid as Chambeyronia beautiful, a cup of tea and biscuit is all you need there!

No need for a toque in that weather eh! I have driven a car though you’re area one beautiful part of the world. Absolutely gorgeous, Canada will always have a place in my heart!

Wow. I had no idea it got that dry there. I always think of the PNW as a lush, cool, and very wet environment.

I've only seen lawn like that after storm surge.

Every summer it's dry here. Our wildfire rating always reaches high to extreme from the scarcity of rain. The on-shore rain patterns are deflected north to the central coast and southern Alaska, gradually returning in mid late October.

Are you referring to coastal flooding? I expect salt water could do that. Lawns go dormant and green up once the autumn rains return.

You should see how dry it gets on my property in a summer drought, the grass is first to come back after rain.

Yep I never bother to water my lawn, save it for the palms instead. I will never have that manicured Hawaii looking lawn, give me a jungle garden anyday!
