It’s been a busy germinating factory. Having sown a few over the last 6 months it’s time to check in on the newcomers to happypalms palm factory. A few from Colin Wilson @palmtreesforpleasure thanks. A few rps goodies and a few from a couple of local sources along with a few imports. Theres to many for me to mention so you all can read between the lines and work out what’s going. And with two more orders in customs waiting to get the all clear but you can’t count your chickens before they hatch when it comes to customs, I do know that much!

A few more up this week, it’s always good to see a few more popping up. Iam very happy with some home grown Metallica seeds with a hundred percent success rate. Goes to show fresh seeds produce the best results.

Well , I thought I would join in the fun! Hijacking Richard’s thread with a bit of good news(bragging rights?). Not too long ago @DoomsDave sent me quite a few seeds of different varieties. I put them in containers with damp soil and perlite. Well today I took the lids off to check and found that the Dypsis Blackii had sprouted , at least 80% sure as the tags got mixed up a bit . It could be something else that is equally as interesting but I’m very sure they are the Blackii by the way I had the labels laid out . I am super excited. there are 4-5 sprouts so far in this wee community , more on the way!

Hi Jack away I say!!!
I get labels lost or mixed up, you do a tray of seedlings with only 5 of certain species and the one you put the label in does and you thought I will know which one it is, by looking at the same seedlings in that group. Argh but I put another group of seedlings with that tray. So your lost in the memory  of time and it goes pear shaped.
Rookie mistake we all do. But good on Dave for sending those seeds.  One way to tell is have a look at the seed you can sort of guess that way.

Thanks , Richard . Good tip . When I get ready to pot them up , I will post pics for ID. Right now , I will let them grow a bit . I have so many containers of seeds that I’m gonna need to find a place to put them once they are potted up. The ones from the last couple of years are under the Rhopalostylus near the Ernie’s. Full on bright shade with a breeze, perfect👍. Harry

That’s one of the reasons iam posting pictures of seeds and germinated seedlings so it can be used as reference, might as well make good of something 🤣

Most seedlings require shade, not deep shade but shaded, we wouldn’t put a baby in the sun straight out hospital so it makes sense for the seedlings 🌱
