Okie dokie. I know that they don't like to be dug up and transplanted. What about seedlings and smaller ones? Would they be ok being removed from their pots for shipping, or is this a gamble too?

Shouldn't be a problem if you're careful removing them from the pot and they're packed well. @Sabal King ships them but maybe in their containers.  He can also advise.  USPS (or similar) handling of the box is the concern.  Here's what FedEx did to a palm shipment a few years ago.  Yikes!  Looks like some 250 lb guy used it as a step!  Thankfully palms survived.

This reminds me of when I bought a D. Lutescens and it literally looked like UPS threw it out of the airplane onto my porch. It looked A LOT worse. Truth be told what I'm wanting to ship would probably work in a bubble mailer.

I’ve had good success transplanting Sabals vs other palms. Especially bare root.

i have dug them up with barely any intact roots, and had them grow.  Also ordered a ton of bare root saplings that went in pots and right in-ground with no issues.
Water a lot.  Plant it ASAP while it’s hot.

I have a Nitida otw from Sabal King I’m excited for.

Yea I ship everything in their nursery bags and have no issues.  I no longer use USPS because A) they cost much more and B ) they suck and lose packages, destroy them, etc with no accountability.  I have been using UPS for a while now and have had zero issues.  I did a YT video on how we pack our palms in the event you want to see what we do

Ok I started watching packing videos and I think I just watched most of your channel. I just learned all kinds of stuff and you're a tad bit north of me but I'm not far from the I-20 corridor so weather is pretty similar although probably more humid here. Thanks for posting all of that and you've got a stunning property and I hope it's filling in for you.

lol thank you and glad you enjoyed the content!  I have to start doing more, and recently started to so I just need to keep going.  The yard is filling in like crazy now that I had planted about 125 Sabals in 2021-2024... they're starting o really get some size now!  I do a lot more on IG and FB so if you are active there come take a look.  I will be doing a full garden tour soon enough.

Let me know how we can help.

@Sabal King got my Nitida today. In great shape. Planting in a bed this weekend.

What do you think is accurate hardiness temp for these?  I had one burn up at 12F on North side of the house. But rebounded back from trunk cut

I have another that triple spear-pulled. Still alive and well, but stunted growth.

Awesome I am so glad to hear it, thank you!  If you can leave us a review that would be great!

Honestly, I have NO idea on hardiness.. I have heard people say these should be grown in 8a (DFW would be a little harsh) but I did plant one out t my ranch in 8b so next time i go out there i'll see how it fared... Hoping it is alive still!
