Sabal Louisiana inflorescences vs Sabal minor :

Recommended Posts

I always said that the inflorescences on my  Sabal Louisiana was shorter than on my Sabal  minor ,   and an indicator of the differences , but I'm thinking differently now . Now that I  have fertilized    my Louisiana last April , for the first time in a number of years  ,  it seems that the Louisiana inflorescences are a lot taller this year , and similar in height to Sabal minor  .

What do you think ? I wonder if they stay stiffer and don't fall over like Minors do ?

Yes, they extend pretty far.  My Louisiana flowered for the first time last year but this year it shot up a foot beyond the tallest frond.    Last year @OC2Texaspalmlvr posted a photo of his that extended even farther.

This may be my (supposed to have been a Brazoria) sabal louisiana. The tallest frond is right at 6' and that inflorescence is every bit 10' tall, maybe 11-12'. I posted a thread on this and those who responded seemed to think it is a Louisiana.

Two on the side of the house. Plants, 5-ft tall. Inflorescence about ten to 12 feet tall. They have ten leaves each.

Are these sabal louisiana? If yes, have they begun to trunk? My louisiana went from a 7g plant w/o a trunk to a fat small trunk in 4 years. Thanks.
