Southeast US Storms

Featured Replies

I'm in East Mississippi now, about 10 miles or so from the Alabama line. Anyway, is it just me or are we getting a lot more rain, severe thunderstorms and tornadoes than normal this spring?

I've been away from here for about 20 years, and I remember afternoon showers were common, but I don't remember getting so many severe thunderstorm and tornado warnings.

Atlanta in May received about 150% of average rainfall. We'll see what happens going forward. Perhaps normal, or perhaps the rain turns off. I've seen it both ways here.

This rain has been beneficial for my recent Spring plantings here.  I'm not complaining.  I don't see June as being a big rainy month, but we'll see how it goes.

I'm used to the rain. I'm embellishing a little bit here, but it just seems that we're getting weekly tornado warnings along with it.

We can definitely experience back to back rounds of severe storms during the summer months during northwest flow events. Any storm complexes coming off the plains tend to cause problems in the southeast. These patterns can last a while.
