Planted this coconut palm that is supposedly the Malayan dwarf about a week ago, have seen numerous posts online on how to plant it either above the surface or below the ground surface and creating a berm to keep run off water. For perspective, this was a 25gal tree planted in darker soil mid PH acidity. Ive toyed with the idea of putting sand around the tree and or mixing it with some of the dirt for better drainage but unsure…I’ve watered it about every day and wasn’t sure if having it above ground will impact the growth or if I should move it lower given it was just planted. I haven’t fertilized around it but wanted to see if anyone had tips for these palms. I’d say I’m more on the northern limit for these but they will survive in this area. I have a smaller one that survived the winter but hasn’t grown substantially in the last year. You can see it in one of the images the truck has only grown up and not out wider.

@Dan941 Welcome to PalmTalk!  It does look like a Green Malayan to my eye.  If it is growing well, I wouldn't mess with it.  They tend to be pretty tolerant of grade change, but why fix something that works? :)

Those of us along the I-4 corridor like to roll the dice with coconut palms as well.
