Cold tolerance of various ‘rattan’

Recommended Posts

Hi all.
Plectacomia aside, can anyone suggest a list of the most cold tolerant palms useful for cane/rattan? I’m thinking there won’t be many.

I think you're right, I believe that Plectocomia himalayana is the most cold hardy ratan palm and it's only rated to USDA zone 9a.  I'm not sure about the Calamas species (all 114 of them!) but doubt that many have much cold tolerance considering their habitat.  Sorry I am not much help!
