A tough call saying it’s like Hawaii, but the amount of we have been getting is incredible. I have never seen this much rain before in my area. I have seen it as wet but not 1150mm in three months. One place is up to 2000mm in my area that’s a lot of water, and the garden is looking like it’s straight out of Hawaii only difference is we are going into winter.

I can't believe how fast things are growing here too. The Veitchia and Adonidias which have laughed at me for years, suddenly took off while the fast growers seem to have doubled in height in the last few months. What I don't like is going out in the cold and wet to water all the potted palms in the dry part of my shade house. It's very tempting to do some planting while the rain keeps coming but if we get a cold snap, which usually happens, it could be a risky exercise.  My Sommeria and Iguanara are still outside and thriving. Usually I have to bring them inside around April. I don't mind the constant downpours as they are doing a world of good for the plants however getting the wheelchair bogged and four legged mud bunnies racing around in the house is starting to wear thin.

Protect the sommieria bubble wrap around the container if it’s outside. Yes things are growing well. If you get to bogged I have a tractor so we will get you out.

They are fairly slow growing but worth it for the lovely green trunk and showy foliage. They are sold everywhere here as house plants but you never see them in a garden which is strange as they do so well.

They do grow well here, you see them around town. I’ll have to snap a few photos while out and about.

They would grow like a weed flat out  in that climate that’s for sure 👍
