I have been getting the odd plant from Chris and Arden for over 20 years so I usually spot their handiwork. I was buying some plants from Palms for Brisbane when they were still open and they hadn't put new labels on them so I rang Chris and got them cheaper ! Still nobody could beat Rosebud farm for value for money.

Oh rosebud was the one incredible yhe stuff he had and so cheap, I know times have changed but let’s go back to those days. Even the stuff you buy before the world was ending was reasonable prices then customs changed the rules combined with the world ending, and that was the end of it, they took the fun away of seed sending. Ps do want a Draceana goldieana

I would like a goldiana actually. I had one and it was looking good but when all the plants were packed for safety when the cyclone was coming, it ended up in a strange place and was only found last week. It looks pretty crook and I am not sure if it will survive so a replacement would be appreciated. Yes I would spend $100 at Rosebud and be potting up palms and cycads for the next week. Some of the boxes were huge too.

I used to get moving cartons full of palms, sent down on the mcafartys bus as unaccompanied luggage, waiting at 3 in the morning at the bus shelter like some hobbo with a flaggon  of port. Goldieana are pretty slow in the cold weather.

Hey Richard, hadn’t heard of N. banaensis before, only N. pumilla. I’ve had the latter in the garden for years now and noticed the similarities between the two. The species is a close relative to and was once included in  Pinanga. Heavy clumper, I continually thin the suckers out and keep it as a single.

Here are a few photos

For me it was Australian Air Express. I only lived a stones throw from Perth airport so I’d pick up the boxes of goods and everyone would converge on my place to pot up late into the night with spot lights going and bags of potting mix and potted up palms just everywhere under my back patio. We’d order a pizza for dinner then back into it until the last palm was potted up. Those were the days.

I thought this one would get em going! Never heard of this one before they said well they have now. Your garden is one amazing paradise I can see your vision, but the amount of rain we are getting at the moment is amazing 1100mm plus in three months, and more is coming again this weekend I have never seen this much rain in my area, one place near me has received over 2000mm, so where starting to look like Hawaii only problem is where going into winter.

Yes the next morning I would pot up hundreds of palms going all day until the end. Here’s a trip down memory lane for you check out those prices!

Yes. Brings back memories. I reckon I ordered off of that exact list in 2004. The right time of year to get them in. In 2005 I took a trip to Kuranda and went to Rosebud to meet Rich. Lovely guy. Awesome place. Good times.

O know I ordered of that list. It tells me year date so I know when my nursery started back then 😄
