Nice job of recruiting!  Good to see more Pennsylvanians on the forums.

Welcome to PalmTalk!  My interest in palms started the first time I came to Florida from Pennsylvania.

Welcome to PalmTalk! I hope you enjoy the forums! My interest in palms started with a trip to Destin, FL (from the cold mountains of western North Carolina) in 2021. Who knew that the Sabal palmetto leaning into the condo balcony would begin this hobby of mine... :)

@PAPalmtrees, good job on recruiting!

Start him off with all the varieties of Sabal minor.  I keep saying next time I go back I'm going to plant a few in Bedford county near the Juniata to see if they make it, but then I just never get the time to try a McCurtain or a Cherokee there.

If you do plant them tell me where because Bedford is pretty close to us

Will do.

It would be pretty close to some kind of landmark so they would be easy to find.  Somewhere in a sheltered spot, like under "the narrows" on US-30 would probably provide just enough of a microclimate to sustain them.  Then when the river floods, it would keep the bud above freezing in the spring.

Even though Bedford is pretty close to where we live it seems to get much colder than us in the winter
