The forum heading said palms in pots or container ranch

The heading stated palms in pots does this qualify as enough palms in pots. Iam a hobby grower and collector of anything unusual, rare or just must have exotic plants and I do it simply because I love plants especially palms. Most of this stock will be planted on my property over time. That’s my grand plan for future generations.

A very nice set up on the benches . It looks like good air flow even with that many palms. When I had a lot of potted ones at my old house , I had to create an environment with good air flow . Almost as important as light. Those palms all look healthy and that takes planning as well as a lot of work. Harry

Sir is a key element for growing, I find the half moon roof shape gives the best growth with the air rolling across the top. And the benches I learnt my father who had pidgeons get them of the floor less disease and healthier birds with lifts up of the ground makes plenty of sense to do the same with plants.

Some of those on the first tray look like they're making a break for the jungle.

Such a great setup. You inspire me to keep experimenting and improve my own little production line!

That’s the spirit keep on building. My tip for you is keep the weeds out of your setup, less weeds = less pest and disease meaning better quality growth, it’s not rocket science but……..

Your " hobby nursery" is way bigger than any professional one I have seen so far.  And it looks perfect.

Thank you. No weeds makes all the difference. I have seen many a weed infested nursery and it’s not a pretty sight. I get my failures from time to time some palms just say no way not for me no matter what you do. But definitely no weeds if you spot a weed in my nursery you get a free Joey palm. Trick is don’t let weeds in from the beginning it’s easier that way.

It must be so nice to just walk in and walk out with a new plant all the time. And then just tell yourself that you got a new palm to plant for free. 😂

That’s what I did today! Walked in and walked out, I even went back for more!

I don’t lock my gate and no guard dog, so go straight for the greenhouses at my house it’s got all the personal collection in there, but i wouldnt bother with a Ute or trailer, just get a B double truck and you might have a bit of room left for the bottom greenhouse!

Richard, if it's true, isn't it dangerous to leave the gate open?

Not really I live in a community on a hundred acres. With ten other homes, I don’t even lock my door to my house when I go out, leave the keys in my car overnight  or when iam not using it and take the wife’s car out. If they want to steal it there welcome to it a locked gate only keeps the honest people out, if they really want to take it they will. I will say though kharma is wonderful thing I will or have to do anything, kharma will catch up with them!

Richard, even with gates, doors, and closed doors, they come and steal  here

I'm almost tempted to come and live from   you (if I didn't have a wife and child).

Property theft is a big problem in Australia as well, rural property theft is also a big problem. A lot of theft is drug related iam lucky I live out of town away from that. Rural theft they steal pumps, chainsaws, tools and machinery and break into your home. Iam just lucky I live in commune with safety in numbers to get to my house you need to drive past 6 houses and will get seen by the neighbours do that is a little deterrent. I just don’t worry about it. I will say though I don’t like a thief and they can go and get a job and earn the money to buy what they like, just like you and I have done earned an honest living.

Yes Richard, I see you have a great nursery and you work hard.

My son, who turned 30 on July 28th, has completed many years of school, including 12 years of university. He has three degrees, including a degree in mathematics and physics.

My wife and I worked hard, even on Sundays, to buy him books and pay his university fees, which are very high here.

luckily now that my son is grown up he has understood the sacrifices we made and he is helping me financially

The gift of giving to your son is a wonderful gift to give, your wife and yourself should stand proud of your son!
