Chuniophoenix nana seeds starting to ripen

Featured Replies

A beautiful understory palm that is tolerant of a lot conditions, cool weather dry conditions. Looks its best in medium shade or deep shade conditions. Small growing clumping palm. The seeds are starting to ripen these ones I used an artist brush daily while they where flowering to aid in pollination and it worked with a good seed set. Two seeds per seed is the usual with this palm easy to germinate and grow a top little palm that I like to grow.

This is a palm that I hope to add to my collection at some point . Yours does not disappoint. Such a rich colorizing on that one ….and to have seed , that’s icing on the cake! I’m sure you will make good use of those seeds. They look to be about the same size as Chamaedorea seeds? Maybe a bit larger? Harry

I hated leaving mine behind when I moved. It used to get some lovely colour in the petioles and trunk. 11 years after I planted it, no signs of extra trunks, which pleased me greatly. They are a wonderful little palm and very tough too.

Peachy

I came. I saw. I purchased

27.35 south.

Warm subtropical, with occasional frosts.

They are about the size of an alexander palm only split in two. They have been mistaken for rhapis.

@happypalms your specimen is staring to look almost as nice as me own! Mine set abundant seeds, like little penny gumballs from days of old.

@Harry’s Palms I might have some but they’re little; might be worth holding out for a bigger one though it might require a look. They do take a while to get size.
