This is a small tree or large shrub according to one of my beloved reference books, “Tropical and Subtropical Trees.”

I saw a photo of the bloom somewhere decades ago and finally I have blooms on one of my own two plants!

They were hard to locate, but took only a few years to settle in and bloom.

Not easy to photograph in focus as the flowers are quite three dimensional, small and hide under branches and leaves. However I love them.

I understand that they are hard to propagate but am hoping with two I might have luck getting seed in case they are self infertile.

I realized today that I have been incorrectly writing the genus name as Neopoleonea but happily 30 cents or less each for me to print two new labels and correct my mistake.

Who else grows these?

Hopefully I will be growing one Cindy, I purchased this one about two weeks back. Super rare in Australia.
