Time to bring out the big guns for tree planting

A spot of palm planting to be done and with so many palms to plant, I decided to get hold of a auger to run behind the tractor to drill the holes and why not work smarter not harder. Iam not to worried about the sides being glazed and the roots curling around the sandy soil is soft enough for the roots to penetrate. So today’s planting expedition is a stack of Chambeyronia macrocarpa planted along the driveway, cycas seemanii, attalea cohune, a foxtail, silky oak tree, cinnamon tree, dypsis lanceolata, hypohorbe verschaffeltia, and another Chambeyronia macrocarpa. All pioneer plants proven winners once they are up and growing creating a microclimate that’s when I can really start to get the plants in. But the auger certainly makes life a lot easier that’s for sure.

What a cool contraption! It looks like a differential turned on its side with the drive line attached to the tractor. Is there a hydraulic “push” on the other side of the fulcrum? It looks like a handy tool for fence posts as well. Now we’re gonna see some serious palm planting , can’t wait! Harry
