What's wrong with my Dypsis Baronii?

Hi!

I have a Sugar Cane Palm/DypsiBaronii in a large pot in my house. For a few months it's been having some problems: New spears open way slower than they used to and eventually reveal fronds with very short leaflets.  In one of the pictures I am holding up a frond that is more than a year older than the one next to it (but looking a lot bigger and healthier) . Some other spears have stopped growing but not opened in nearly a year.  The plants lives right next to a window and gets lots of indirect (and also direct light for 3-4 hours a day). Usually room temp is between 15-25 degrees with low humidity, but I do mist spray the plant. I occasionally fertilize with liquid seaweed, have I possibly overdone it? I realize it could be a variety of factors, but does this stunted new growth point to any issue in particular?

Many thanks for any helpful tips

Definitely a nutrient deficiency which one good question. Iron, magnesium,  boron toxicity a proper leaf and soil analysis will pinpoint it. I will go out on a limb here and say boron toxicity that been said there are some very clever individuals on palm talk who will pinpoint it for you. It’s definitely a soil issue that’s causing it, once your soil is locked up it can be very difficult to correct the problem. Overwatering may have started the process with your soil locking up causing more nutrient problems, trace elements can get tricky in the wrong balance causing more problems that baffle the grower.
