I was in the middle of the morning when I got an alert on my phone which they used to use for missing senior citizens, etc., but this time it was for an earthquake.

I'm thinking, "Oh really now? No [fecal material]?" and the shaking started and went on for about 30 seconds.

Turned out to be an 8 mile deep temblor near Julian, up in the mountains of Sandy Ego County.

Anyone else feel it? Any damage? (None for me, this time, thank heaven.)

This was kind of a zilch in some ways; only 5.2 relative little damage.

What made it noteworthy was that this was the first time they used that alert system.

Not foolproof, but I can see it at least affirming that what you thought was an earthquake, was one.

It's actually been used a couple times in the recent past.  Further out in time if you include places beyond CA like Japan and British Columbia..

Interesting!!

Curious to find out more from the “locals” where it’s used.

Bay Area, at least half a dozen times over the last couple for starts..

Sister and fam / rest of what family still lives there have the app on their phones.

Been a couple times we found out about a " CA vibration " via " Did you hear about... / there was a... today ... " texts / calls from my older Nieces.

I'm awaiting the 12.0+ that supposedly will usher in the rapture ..According to various " intriguing " points of view, 🤣
