Does any one know if, when and where the 2026 edition will be?

I believe some communication went out a few months ago about Vietnam Feb 2026 and potentially a replacement New Cal trip later in the year. I’d also like to know when confirmed. Both would be amazing but I’ve also got some personal travel planned and budget may not allow both trips.

Good timing. Just saw this in the IPS monthly newsletter.

I know there has been a wonderful Vietnam itinerary planned and likely the Directors will be voting on the plan in September.

Is there a “Stand By” or waiting list for this Biennial?

So sorry for the slow response. I understand there is a waiting list.

There was a glitch in the PT system which meant for a time I did not receive notification of responses to topics I had followed. That has now been fixed.

If you are still interested please private message me and I connect you with the folks who can answer your questions @joe_OC.

Hi all,

Has there been any communication sent regarding more specific details than what is on the biennial page linked above? Things like what to bring etc? I’m sure I’ll manage but would be good to know recommendations for things like if hiking boots are a must vs just regular runners.

I am also debating on whether to bring shoes with ankle support knowing the space they take up in the carry on baggage I plan to pack.

In fact I will need to wear them on the quite lengthy flights from Puerto Rico if I bring them.

I do have a pristine pair of the boots I wear on my farm as my old ones need to be retired anyway.

I did fine in Peru with lesser shoes but for the Ceroxylon hike we were provided with rubber boots.

I will try to find out re shoes and post here in the next few days.

The IPS chose late February because it is not the “wettest” season. However, like all rainforest adventures, I would expect wet conditions and mud.

Understood, reconsidering shoe selection at this point! But extremely excited about going on my 1st Biennial.

All participants received an amazing electronic brochure today 12 pages long full of information and links which is something new for this Biennial.

For example here’s a screenshot (so the links aren’t going to work here):

Perhaps the detailed itinerary with links can be posted one day at a time on the topic which will document the trip on PalmTalk.

I got mine yesterday late.

Please check your spam files as recently some of my IPS notifications went there.

Or you can private message me your email right now and I’ll forward mine to you.

Whheeeee! That was fun! I'm ready for the next one!!

Zone 10a at best after 2007 AND 2013, on SW facing hill, 1 1/2 miles from coast in Oceanside, CA. 30-98 degrees, and 45-80deg. about 95% of the time.

I do some experiments and learning in my garden with palms so you don't have to experience the pain! Look at my old threads to find various observations and tips!

It was a great trip, we saw some very nice palms, especially the Lanonia's. And really fun catching up with old friends and then meeting a few new ones.
