Gray skies this time of year are a sign of our coastal air conditioning system.  It keeps the temperatures a comfortable constant night and day, when temperatures a few miles east begin to soar.  Consequently,  I appreciate seeing this color sky in Spring.  So here are some palms against a gray or grey sky, depending on where you are.

For most of my palms I still have to get down to my knees to get them against the sky, but there is some progress

From my tiny and rarely photographed San Diego garden, Howea forsteriana group,  going on 10 years in the ground, plus the most recent addition, a tidy Coccothrinax argentata, which sparingly takes up the space previously owned by a very aggressive  Streliitzia nicolaI. Bonus night photo from the deck.

I see my garden daily and don’t notice the beauty, only when I photograph it I go wow look at that picture of the garden absolutely beautiful. I see your photos and see the same beauty only better knowing that there are gardeners out there with who feel the same way about there garden as I do. Plus it’s great to see advanced palms in beautiful settings.

A new frond for my Roystonia Oleracae , first of the year . A bit of a zone push for me . Thank you to Palm Talk for the help with this palm when it was just hanging in there a couple years ago. More watering and a bit of organic with mulch and the fronds are much larger . Last year this palm pushed 4 fronds , progressively getting larger , thicker!
