Recently it seems new foliage on a frond growing in is discolored and dried out. I haven’t seen this before, should I be concerned? And if I should what is the issue and how can it be solved.

Has the palm been recently planted. If so it is possible transplant shock. Wth the palm roots drying out after planting. It should recover and be fine. What temperatures has it been exposed too.

Yes, i planed it about two weeks ago. It’s been exposed to as high as about 90 today to about 49 degrees last week during the cold snap. It has also been pretty windy on some days.

From your stats it sounds like transplant shock. The bottom of the new spear looks ok so all should be good the next new leaf.

I think a bit of shock brought on by the heat on a newly planted palm. It is young and vulnerable at this stage and your temps are going to increase as we head into summer . Keep it watered and try to give it overhead protection until it acclimates . I’m not sure how well they do there during the hotter months. Harry

Sure. Queen palms can survive here in the summers but a lot of people dont fertilize them properly so they become weak and susceptible to heat, wind, and cold damage here.
