On the potting bench Livistona alfredii Joey magnifica

Featured Replies

Plenty of rainfall today so a bit of potting up to keep me busy. A few livistona alfredii  a couple of leucothrinax morrisii 2 brahea armarta some Joey magnifica and a few Norfolk Island hibiscus trees they have been slow to get a move on so hopefully now they are potted up they will move a bit faster. And as Murphys law says I dropped the whole box of all the seedlings I gathered up that I placed on top of the hibiscus seedlings, a few broken Livistona roots that most likely won’t make it but I sorted it all out, slippery wet driveway.

When I lived in  Hades/Bible Belt/Darling Downs, I planted a Norfolk Island Hibiscus. Gorgeous thing, amazing pretty pink and white flowers.  It grew to be enormous and even the heaviest frosts didn't phase it at all.  They stopped selling them in Qld as the leaves make cattle itchy. Quite stupid in  fact, if you have cows don't plant one. I recommend them to anyone who has the space for one.

Peachy

I came. I saw. I purchased

27.35 south.

Warm subtropical, with occasional frosts.

@peachy We can’t have a bunch of “itchy cows “ now , can we?😂 Harry

That would have been good old Joe-Peterson who would have passed that law, something like daylight savings in Queensland remember the cows had trouble walking into the dairy because of daylight savings, and the curtains faded more because of the extra light. Glad they got rid of him the tyrant he threw people in jail just for living in Queensland. But iam going to plant as many as I can till the cows come home.

Most definitely not. Queensland has more flies than China that could be what’s making them itch🤣Hang on didn’t China wipe out flies when everyone had to kill one fly a day I think they did it in one day.

The do get very very big so give them room and sunlight.  Old Jo was gone when I moved up here. Still no daylight saving however  They are waiting for all the old people to die first. Don't get hungry after 6pm here, even the chip shops close up then.
