Back in August 2024, I went to the smoky mountains. To my surprise there were palm trees!IMG_9088.thumb.jpeg.dca18e8cd61f2304c44693477d32f5ef.jpegIMG_9883.thumb.jpeg.35bd3d55a6e1610f26b54e4a6ff9b5f3.jpegIMG_9092.thumb.jpeg.111f15e8a83e3713a626c50a85dcfd29.jpegIMG_9140.thumb.jpeg.799d720befbd964473d456cf45b22186.jpegIMG_9133.thumb.jpeg.20011b6ee9972d50364e205827050b8d.jpeg

Wouldn't think so. They don't recover from hc in a season. If they wanted annuals, they could buy Rhapis and Adonidia.

If they are not annuals, that is an amazing feat! My Brother-In-Law in Atlanta has a neighbor, who plants Sabals and yanks them out and replaces them the next year. Do not assume that all annual planters know their palms!

Checking the climate of Pidgeon Forge, Tennessee. Wikipedia Geography has a rendering of the all time low of -18 F in January with below zero low temperatures recorded also in December, February, and March. Pigeon Forge, Tennessee is located 33 miles south of Knoxville, Tennessee. Do Sabal palms grow as pictured in Knoxville?
