Good morning, below is a picture of my Bismarck Palm. I have a drip watering system, and please any advice on care!
Moon Nursery delivered this, and planted it, and havent been a lot of help on care. So far we have been giving it the Moon Juice
palm fertalizer that they make, and super Palm Juice.
I went by their recomendations, and strictly for 2 years this is what our palm looks like! When should we cut the yellow fronds off?
Should the trunk be trimmed up better?
What is the best recomended way, and type of fertalizer we should be using, and how much, how often should we?
And how much water should it be getting, we have heavy clay, but they did dig around the palm as you can see when
they planted, and added soil from the crate, and removed some of the clay around where it was planted. Being on a drip system,
what size of emitters should I be using? And should I use one on both sides of the palm. Its been kind of a cool wet off start of oour year here.
Please get back to us ASAP dont want to loose our beautiful palm

This looks like a green bismarckia which has a much slower growth rate in San Diego in my experience. Mine is 30  plus years old and has barely 3 feet of trunk.. A silver would be much larger. This could be good or bad, depending on what you want. I bought mine before I knew the difference. Depending on when the picture was taken and what kind of protection it has it doesn't look too bad for this time of year. Wind and cooler temps do take a toll, but by mid to late summer palms start looking their best in SD. It doesn't look like it's on its last legs.

Your drip emitters should be evenly spaced around the palm and reach out to the end of the fronds. The ground around the trunk of your palm looks very moist. This can damage the palm so be careful and let the ground dry somewhat between watering.
I wouldn’t cut the fronds until they are brown and you don’t need to clean the trunk, it’s self cleaning when more mature. Regarding fertilizer, less is generally better in my opinion and should only be applied during warm growing season. Sometimes when you are unsure about how much and when to fertilize, it’s better to just add some 6-9 month slow release palm fertilizer and nothing else for that period.
