A A few Chamaedorea adscendens setting seeds

Recommended Posts

I’m Some of my chamaedorea adscendens are flowering again. They flower twice a year so a lot of flowers to hand pollinate gives me an endless supply of seeds by the hundreds. There a wonderful little understory palm that I love. Very easy to hand pollinate just observing them as they flower is all I do. At the green seed stage the size they are now I put plastic bags on them to stop the rats and possums getting into them. There just so easy all round to grow and propagate they would have to be my absolute favourite of small palms in the genus of chamaedoreas.

A good supply there. Harry

The two you gave me are doing well Richard, and the communal pot of seed has some spikes now. They will all go in my garden because they don’t take up any space and I just love them.

For those of you that frequent Facebook, I’ve set up a group called “Pommy palms”, where many of the palms I’ve seen since emigrating to Australia have been documented. If you wish to be a member, copy and paste “Pommy palms” into Facebook to view the page and click “Join group”.

These are a very pretty palm and great for my tiny speck of ground I call the garden. My only complaint is that compared to many other Chamaedoreas they are quite slow growing. I just have to hope they will be ready for planting before I am.
