As the name implies, the Central Florida Palm and Cycad Society (CFPACS) primarily focuses on growing palms and cycads in Central Florida.  Definitions of what constitutes Central Florida vary widely, and that is further skewed by a large amount of new membership in what is typically considered Northeast Florida and Southwest Florida.  Our membership  includes out-of-state and international members.  We share members and host meetings with other palm societies as well!  Everyone is welcome to join!

We meet four times per year and participate in plant sales throughout Florida.  As many of our members can attest, it is hard to beat the prices of our vendor sales and auctions.

Some CFPACS history:

  • Dent Smith, founder of the IPS, lived in the Daytona Beach area - an area covered by CFPACS.
  • The previous two presidents of the IPS before @ASHCVS were CFPACS members ( @Robert Blenker + @SubTropicRay )
  • Our society has recently released all of our publications back to 1990 for free public use.

More information about us:

Everyone is welcome to come attend one of our meetings or visit us at one of our sales.  Look for us in the AFFILATE NEWS AND MEETING DATES section.

Very impressive- Dent Smith, Ray Hernandez, and Robert Blenker! Inarguably @CFPACS is one of the most historic IPS affiliates. And of course member Libby Besse was the recipient of our highest honor, the Dent Smith award, in 2014.

I am quite confident that I can speak for the entire board to report that the 2021 midterm held in Tampa/St.  Petersburg and Sarasota was thoroughly enjoyed by all.

I love the way that you utilize PalmTalk to get the word out. Thank you so much for posting this and everything else about your marvelous affiliate. You all should be proud.

The 2025 Fall CFPACS Meeting will practically double as a plant sale.  If you're looking for hard-to-find palms at the lowest prices you can get them, you should RSVP to the meeting:

At a minimum, take a look at the price list posted by @Fishinsteeg234 and know that we'll have multiple vendors there selling over 100 species of palms and cycads.

We've updated our site.  We've had a lot of new members over the course of the year and a few inquiries about our seed bank.  The seed bank will transition into a Seed Exchange at our meetings.  For more details:
