The good old Bismarck palm, hardly ever gets noticed due its popularity. Planted pretty well much everywhere a palm can grow just about. It was all the rage in the day when it got introduced into cultivation. Now it just gets a second look and that’s it. Still a popular palm for some with the room to grow one or two. But a good landscaping palm if your after an impact statement. Easy to germinate and grow the trick is to when it comes to potting up seedlings just germinated. It will always be popular for various reasons.

I love these palms . They grow very well here but the only place I have room for one is on my hill and the gophers love them. Harry

You do need room for them that’s for sure. Not a lot attacks them in Australia not even the rats well so far they  haven’t.

Are some of these green Bismarcks as well?

FANTASTIC palm for USA deserts! Grows twice as fast as our other semi-common blue desert palm (Brahea armata), and local big boxes have finally been selling them here for about 5 years now. I planted seeds from my own tree at that time that I physically pollinated, put 80 sprouts into 5 gallon pots, and only have 15 plants left for sale, after two years of making them available. Great seller-still very uncommon in residential gardens in my area. Great way to help your hobby garden pay for itself! 👍

No green ones in there that iam aware of. Cheap eBay  seeds, so I suspect no special ones in there

They are a good seller easy to move on to anyone who wants a palm for tough conditions. A plant that size you have there would go for about $250 Aus dollars in an elite nursery. Most likely $60 Aus from me. But a wonderful palm so much so its popularity has gone and overkilled for a lot of collectors. Still iam going to plant a few of my ones on my property.
