I don't live near there. I do have young children however. We usually go to Branson but may go to Pigeon Forge this year because my MIL has a small family cemetery nearby and she wants to go. If we do I'll look for those palmettos and post an update pic.

There are also some large windmill palms at the Pigeon River Inn. If you view an older Google Street view you will notice they protect these palms at the Inn. Probably a good thing up there in a colder zone 7. I've never seen either of these places in person yet.

The one you mentioned at the mini golf place were just installed in 2024, as was the building. The windmills may survive, but without protection the palmettos won't in time. Nice find!

My guess is they will survive a winter or two and then die

Yep. Those hurricane cut palmettos are a terrible option for these marginal zones. It would be much better to plant a potted specimen, of course they want instant gratification though. I do see ones that are potted and planted around here occasionally and they have a much better chance to survive.

I'm the closest member, I think, to these. They're about 20 minutes from me. I've got a friend who lives in Sevier County and drives by them a few times a week.  He last told me they had them wrapped for the winter, but I don't know if any care has been taken for the crown.  As mentioned by others, there is a hotel and a few restaurants also in that general area where some nice sized Windmill palms can be seen, too.  I'll try to grab a photo later this week of how they look after this Arctic blast we're having. 90 hours below freezing, I've recorded 10F so far this morning and my friend, who lives in Sevier county,  recorded 12F for his low.

That last windmill looks great. I assume this is the one at the Pigeon River Inn. Thanks for the pics!

It is indeed! You're welcome.  We'll see how they look after this week :)

I am betting the palmettos are dead, or will decay and die this spring. Windmills probably are fine.
