Variegated parlor palm!

Local nursery find today I couldn't resist grabbing this variegated parlor palm (Chamaedorea elegans) from a fresh shipment of seedlings. I'm always on the lookout for variegated oddities. Has anyone here found or currently owns a variegated C.elegans?

Are the brighter green areas variegated because to me it just looks like lighting effect.

On the leaf in the middle the third leaflet down to the right has a solid white stripe

I can see it. I never once saw variegation on C. elegans before

It will be interesting to see if the plant keeps growing occasionally variegated leaves. My bet is that it goes all green!

I agree. You see spot variegation on mass produced palms all the time

Yeah i have seen it on younger palms dont remember what palm it was maybe it was a mexican fan palm? Can happen but reverts back if varigation on palms actually existed that would be swiped up by costa farms or other big plant producers quicker than anything!

I have seen variegated Rhapis excelsa on the market before, and some online shops appear to have variegated C. elegans. It makes sense to have more variegated R. excelsa since they're a bunching palm and easy to prop clones off of. I think you guys that expect it to revert are probably right since it's only on one of its two leaves but I'll be keeping an eye on this guy as it grows.

Hi,

They are relatively common in the EU and also UK. The stock comes in batches, one day is for sale in several nurseries and websites and then is out of stock for a while. The ones in the picture were 3€ a pot in 2021. The nursery had a big table full of them.

Back then, I couldn't find any reference to a variegated Chamaedorea elegans here in Palmtalk but there were tons of references and photos in Instagram and some in Reddit.
