Mislabelled trachycarpus at the garden centre?

Hi all, I spotted this trachycarpus at my local garden centre, it’s marked as a fortunei but I am wondering with the long petioles and very deeply split leaves whether it might be a nova - in which case I’d have to snap it up… am I just getting over-excited?IMG_1552.thumb.jpeg.1e2ee9c51e404fce85559fcf8df7cabc.jpeg

Too much variation among fortuneis to assume something different.

Many greenhouse and shade grown Fortuneis have this look. The new growth will look more typical if you plant it somewhere with more sun.

Thanks for the wisdom, both - did suspect I might be getting excited over nothing 🙈

I would still be excited. It is still a very nice looking palm! Here is a picture of a couple that I bought last year for $75 each. I would have preferred to get some like yours.

yes, some of them look like this here in our garden centers too.  my first trachycarpus fortunei also looked like this when I bought it, but after planting it out in a predominantly sunny spot it no longer looked like this after a while🙂

kind regards from lake constance
