Chamaedorea woodsoniana - Big Seed form

Recommended Posts

I planted this cham woodsoniana "Big Seed" form from Floribunda as a 4-inch plant. I don't get to see it often since it's kind of nestled among a bunch of other plants, but I really love the way this palm is turning out in my dry, z9b. I've got a couple of rings at the base of it now :)

Nice dark leaf color with the leaflets very close together. Looks like it will get fairly tall for a Chamaedorea. Harry

From what I've been able to scrape from around the internet, this would be the Panamanian population which is bigger and has a bigger seed.

My seed crop from RPS failed to germinate, but due to the generosity of @PalmKeeper I have four seedlings now ground planted.

( I have found that the best chance to develop the maximum diameter is to plant when small.)

Luckily it has at least 20 feet of clearance here so it has plenty of space

Nice! I'm going to try to source a few more of these from floribunda. They take a while to get going but I might as well get started with a few more
