Spear Pull 😱 Chrysalidocarpus titan (Dypsis sp. bejouf)

I was just giving a garden tour to some friends today and pointing out my amazing Chrysalidocarpus titan (Dypsis sp. bejouf[a]). Out of a hunch, I decided to gently pull the spear 😭😭😭😭 and it came straight out, ouch.

It is a very deep hole and I flooded it immediately with Cooper fungicide, any remote chance of recovery 😬??? I was so looking forward for the new leaf to unfold. What a bummer and quite unexpected.  I am on the dry-side (Kona) of the Big Island on the wet (1500-2000mm/60-80in) coffee belt elevation (560m/1900ft).

So sorry to hear this especially with how slow these can be to get going and yours is good sized. I would also recommend pouring a good amount of hydrogen peroxide down the hole every couple of days.  That’s worked miracles for me in the past. Good luck and keep us posted!
