Areca catechu ‘alba’ Seedlings

Areca catechu ‘alba’ or ‘golden’, (Tray in center, in pic) I’ve been selling these on Facebook marketplace when leaf is all the way up and open. But if anyone would like a few, it’s easier to mail the smaller ones before that leaf opens completely, because of the height for shipping. So, I will offer some here. $10 each, 4 minimum to ship. Plus Shipping, Spaghum, & box.

I have just been talking with my friend about these seeds. He just warned me that he has a couple of ‘regular’ form Areca catechu nearby. So there is a possibility of hybridization. Even though these are readily self pollinating, I feel I must put this information forth. If anyone has grown either species from seed, I’d be interested to know if seedlings differ in the early stages.

Hey Charlene, I’ve grown the ‘Alba’ before from seed, and you can start to see yellow coloring on the young leaf sheath while still young and bi-fid. I believe the green standard form stays bright, deep green. Based on your photos, I can see some yellow starting to show. Good chance yours are ‘Alba’. These are also very cold sensitive, anything below 40 degrees can outright kill them. Here’s a few photos to reference as they get larger.
