I’m amazed how well most of my plants have adapted to conditions at my place.  4 years ago the lava flow that is my yard was covered by a nearly impenetrable fern mass.  I used hedge trimmer to cut the fern to the ground and it left some organic matter.  But peel back about 2” of root mass and viola - lava.  And no shade on my acre save for a couple big trash trees I’m slowly taking down.

So everything I planted is in bagged soil, fresh mulch and cinders.  Does not hold moisture at all.  But the plants hung in there and my heliconia, ginger, bananas and palm leaves are now making lots of green waste plus the trash trees.

Looks like there is some nutrient deficiency but everything really keeps going.

It’s amazing how well plants can do here with all of our rain and consistent temperatures. I can’t imagine a better climate for growing plants.  Your place looks great!

I’m surprised how well seemingly shade and moisture hungry plants do in the dry down here.
