Howdyall:

This is way off-topic for here, but I'm looking for some information to solve a big PIA problem.

Sometimes you have large pdf files that are gigundous. Humungous. To the point where it's impractical to use them, especially if you have to transmit them via email. Where, for example, you have a 2-page file that's 2 megabytes all by itself (average is about 100-200 kilobytes). And you have to attach a couple dozen of those to something and it adds up fast, to the point where it's too big to send. Many emails are limited to about 20 megabyte file sizes.

You can print out such documents manually and scan them in on a large scanner (not one of those small ones) and sometimes reduce the size by 95% or more, but that's not always practical.

I've searched for software to try to do that, and mostly it's a bunch of BS links for free trials that aren't free for long.

Anyone have any specific recommendations on this type of thing?

I know a few of us here do occasional work requiring document transmittal.

Thanks for your time and attention.

Let's keep our forum fun and friendly.

If the standard "compress file" doesn't work, you can upload to google drive and share a link (so you don't have to send as an attachment) or "print to PDF" through either the MS or Adobe functions.  The "printed" PDF file is usually smaller than the source doc.
