How to protect every tropical I have

I have a lot of tropicals this year and other than the palm trees, I don't know how to protect the rest. Any tips will be welcome for protecting in-ground, bananas (basjoo and xishuangbannaensis), new type of cold hardy cannas, and a new type of experimental cold hardy elephant ear that I got from Poland, its a variation of pink china but it looks like Aloha variety (don't know the name of it but you can find it online). So in general, any tips will be welcome!

Mulch, mulch, mulch, and pray!

Goes without saying that you’ll have to cut the tops off all those following the first killing freeze.

Maybe google for others who are doing it in a similar zone, 6A?

Like I said last year mulch and a tarp.  Plants must be planted in spring and have vigorous growth (lots of healthy bulbs and multiple shoots) and not a tissue culture plant from nursery that hasn't grown bulb yet.

The dryer vent is nowhere near the plants and all plants have vigorous growth. OF course I wont be trying the red cannas again as they died last year and only one sprouted up and the rest died so i had to buy some new local ones. Same with aloha EE.
