It happens sometimes. Not really sure what causes it but unfortunately in every experience I’ve had it’s been terminal. For some reason the seedling pits all energy into a terminal inflorescence and stops producing new fronds. I have a Jubaeopsis that did it last year and while it hasn’t completely died yet, it has stopped growing completely.

I wonder if cutting the inflorescence off early would allow the energy to switch back to producing fronds?

This is what I would do. No clue if it’s the correct thing or not.

Can’t hurt I guess but I’ve never heard of anything being successful.

I had the same thing happen to a C. psammophilus seedling. Pretty sure it died. I posted a video of it on YouTube.

I noticed a couple of mine are now splitting into 2 plants. Anyone else seeing this?  The parent plant was a double that split at an early age (but not this early).

I was able to stop by my old garden today and got these pictures of the parent plant.  Much taller than it was about 18 months ago.
