A couple of palms in sunny Grafton Australia

Had a few things to do in town today and the tabeua and some common palms are looking good after a mild winter.

Richard you need post to Facebook ! That’s where they are happy with multiple posts of random everyday things. Palmtalk is bit more about specific interesting things. Just saying

Really nice street palms . We have more palms planted here as well . A lot of the street trees have been replaced with palms , mostly Syagrus R. , I think the Ficus trees that were so common were buckling the sidewalks . Looks like a nice Spring day. Harry

Hmmm, I’ll be sure I remember this . I actually like these posts and find them interesting . I think the pictures are well done and show someone like me in the States how palms are used in the street scene over there in the Southern Hemisphere. We just had a thread about the same topic in San Diego and the use of Syagrus Romanzoffiana in shopping areas and even industrial parks . I live in SoCal and still took interest as I have also noticed , here in my area , the use of palms . Harry , I don’t do Facebook!

Yer I look in the background of many a photo on palm talk I like seeing how the other side of the world lives. I like the photos of suburbia and backyards it’s an insight to another culture and lives you can tell a lot from a photo.

I don’t have a Facebook account and most likely won’t be in the future. Palm talk is enough for me  to scroll through. Iam just not a technical person rather be outside gardening. There are some great multimedia sites that are very interesting for the right subject. I only got an iPhone 6 years  ago so iam way behind the technology world. Before that it was just the old flip phone for me if the world wants to speed by me in technology blaze it can.

Joining Facebook just for the International Palm Society page would be so worth it. Here’s a small sampling of recent posts…

Very much agree.

@happypalms, if you don't like facebook, which I don't blame you and I personally don't like it much either, why not keeping a few personal threads (My palm garden in Eastern Australia, my purchases and trips,...) and update daily. That way all your photos are tidy and is a bit more chronological. I would find it much more fun to follow those threads than finding random posts all over.

Most of the users in this site are in North America, your posts and experiences are valuable because are different. It's a shame all that is lost in casual posts that track bad in the search function or not seen if not visiting Palmtalk for a few days.

Returning to the post, my eyes go straight to those good looking yellow Tabebuia (or Handroanthus?). Looks like they're very much into coloured trees in Grafton... in less than two months will be the turn for the jacarandas which make the town popular for.
