Hello, I have a handful of windmill palms which I’ve noticed are really skinny and not spreading like the others. They didn’t start out like this. I’ve included a photo with the left side being the normal look and the right being the few that have somehow closed up or something. At first I had one but now I am noticing 3/4 plants like this so something must be causing it.

Either too dry, or too wet I would guess. Either can produce the same result...the roots can't function and the plant dehydrates. Check the bottom of the pot- if it seems dry around the drain holes then put the pot in a bucket of water for 30 minutes till it reabsorbs, then let it drain out.

Another good test is just to pick the pot up and compare the weight to a pot with a healthy plant...if it's much lighter, too dry, if heavier the reverse. Getting water right is one of the hardest tricks of plants in pots, particularly seedlings. Good luck!
