My Super Mule from Moultrie Palms is flowering for the 1st time. I’m enjoying watching it grow in the garden. I put it in the ground May 2021. First picture shows palm Aug 2021. Second picture was taken today.

Mine is currently just a bit bigger than yours was in 2021. What have your lows been since planting and have you ever protected it? Did it even take damage?

I allowed the fronds on mine to be exposed to 23F with no damage, but considering it was still quite small I protected the spear and “trunk” areas as I did not want to risk spear pull issues.

I allowed the fronds on mine to be exposed to 23F with no damage, but considering it was still quite small I protected the spear and “trunk” areas as I did not want to risk spear pull issues.

This particular one has never shown any damage to speak of. Another one in the yard planted out in May 2022 as a 5gal endured temperatures it’s first winter down to 22°F. We had temps below freezing for a solid week. The garden was wet from a previous rain and ice was noted in a few areas. The spear pulled on the 5gal. I treated it with copper fungicide and it bounced back. It’s fully recovered and starting to put out some decent leaves now. This one at this stage doesn’t seem to be plumose like the larger one. I just put two more in the ground as a double. They are small and hopefully will see a mild winter.

Wow amazing! I love Mules and I always wanted to get one but so far I only had a batch of bad seeds of which only 1 sprouted and declined rapidly and in Europe they are harder to get hold of. They are available but extremely expensive and often you get only big ones (= expensive).

My two supermules were planted out last July as one gallons and suffered spear pull from lows around 24°F

but I sprayed hydrogen peroxide down into them and they’ve bounced back wonderfully

I’ve gotta update my post with new pics soon

cant Wait till they’ve got good trunk on them like yours!
