Hello, everyone.  I bought this Palm earlier today at a cactus place. I normally go to, they don't carry palms too often. When I was looking at it, I was thinking it was a Brahea Armata. I have a couple of the armata. At their current size my Armatas have typically about five to seven fronds, they're a little smaller. This palm looks like it's busting out of the seams. It has like ten to fifteen minimum fronds in there. When I google imaged it, it came up Nannorrhops ritchiana. I tried looking manually through images to no avail. The bottom of the trunk looks more rounded as well. What do you think? Sorry about the difference in font size. I was to tired to figure out how to unify on my phone , haha 😄

Solid zone 9, I can expect at least one night in the mid to low twenties every year.

Hot, dry summers. Cold, wet winters.

Offhand looks like Nannorrhops but more details will help.

I think ID will be important so you’ll have an idea how big and fast it’ll grow.

Sorry for the late response! I didn't think it was armoured at first but some of the dead stuff has spines on it. I was talking to Aztropic and he thinks it's a Brahea Armata that suffered some neglect with potting, watering, etc.. I am inclined to agree after looking at the two Armata's I have and comparing them. I really wanted it to be a Nannorrhops! This palm regardless spoke to me. Patrick, I agree with you! Man, this thing looks like it wants to live!

That place should be held responsible for palm abuse! Those are some pretty neglected palms. You may have gotten the best one. That being said , I would have brought at least one or two home , just the way I like them ! I sometimes find palms that need rescue and take a chance , forgotten stock or just neglected. There is a sense of accomplishment when they come back. Make it happy and it will respond. Harry
