This palm gets a bit too much sun this time of year and is more exposed to the sea breeze so it doesn’t always look its best. I fertilized it recently and now it’s starting to flower for the first time.
Please share photos of yours if you grow this palm.

I don’t have one , not sure it would even grow here . I sure enjoy looking at yours, quite colorful. Harry

Brian, I had one for years and it never did look that great. I’d feed it, spray it mulch it, and it always looked kind of just so so. I finally just cut it down after ten years of a less than optimal existence. Don’t miss it at all.

Just sharing my experience, you may have more patience. Good luck.

Thanks for sharing your experience Tim. Mine looked really good when I had it in the shade house but I planted it out in the garden a few years ago in a spot that is too exposed to the sea breeze. If I run out of patience I might try to move it to a more protected area and see how that goes.

If you get some seeds from it, I would love to try and grow them. I can then send you pictures of the babies 😂

Planted a 1 gal pot from FB 2 years ago in pretty much deep shade on a terraced hillside.  It's doing quite nicely there.  To young to think about flowers but it's happy with 40 minutes of water twice a  week.  To bad the birds up above like to poop on it from time to time. LOL
