Beautiful! I forgot that the genus was reclassified. In photo-2, is that a ring-necked tamanduá?

Enough inspiration to try again! I lost my seedlings except the 4 inch blue form that are doing well.

Yes a little " tamanduá-cat" that is like a dog. Every part of the garden she accompanies me....

Is it a trick of the photo or are some of the bases ovoid shaped vs round? A couple look almost flattened out. If so, why would that occur?

I was over at Pauline Sullivan’s house ( now her grandson ) checking for seeds . I took this photo , looking up. Probably the parent to many Decipiens that are in North America. There are two very large specimens near the street. This is the largest . HarryIMG_4344.thumb.jpeg.fce77295791b2a750d44a5757ca36d17.jpeg

I am 6’ tall looking up!  I think I see a smile!

I have tried many times to grow this species, they resisted the winter here, but died in the summer

Miss Sullivan was my very first  friendly correspondence back when i first inquired about joining The Int'l Palm Society! I was a 13 y.o palmnut and she headed the bookstore and suggested i buy the palm authority book at the time- 'Palms of the World', also she sent me back issues of the  society's magazine, 'Principes' specifically about cold hardy palms i could perhaps try in Dallas.

Then, I got to meet her at the '94 Caracas biennial, almost 20 years later. Really a gem, what a trip that was, both the day outings and meeting various peeps (Doctor Dransfield as well). Great times

Dale, a small 5 gallon nearly twenty years ago. Very slow grower for the first few years and gradually sped up. It puts out several new leaves per year now.

amazing collections alberto.  can you disclose how old these are and how big they were when first planted?  so great to see that there is a grove of these outside of madagascar similar to bo's in Hawaii.  may they forever keep this species alive and going well past my own life.

cheers
