Butia yata has been a robust grower. I’m really enjoying watching it grow in the garden

Not sure if "high land form" it's a real thing or not,. I was told there are a few B yata forms, likley locality.  Some have green leaves others have gree/blue leaves. I don't have much experince with yata, so I don't have anything to compare it with.

What a gorgeous palm! I had a B yatay until 9/27/22 when Hurricane Ian ripped it off its growing plate - instant death. It was a minty blue-green color and was sold to me as B purpurascens by a grower in CA that is no longer in business. I would love to find another one.

The only photo I could find was from 9/28/22, the day after Ian.

Sorry your Butia got damaged Meg. It looks like it was a nice one! I bought one of those from same seller you mentioned, labled as purp. I dug it when I moved and unfortunately it didn’t survive the transplant.

Your yxj is bigger than mine. I need to get a jxb from patrix.  Both of yours look fantastic. Well grown 👍

Thanks Randy, they are getting settled in. I’ll take some pictures at the end of summer for an update on growth. Yatay x jub starting to grow at a steady pace now. Jub x butia not so much, it’s been a slow grower. I put a small Jub x Yatay in the ground this past spring, it’ll be interesting to compare the speed of growth to others.

That’s interesting , yours is the first I’ve heard of with hooks. Do you have a Monty shot?

Yes getting settled in slowly. Still lots of landscaping to do. I need to get a drip line to my yatayxjub, along with all my palms on the other side of the driveway. Hopefully get on that in the next few weeks. It’s been extremely dry here. Lots of boomers around but they all seem to go around me 😆

From Dec.  Definitely shows the jub side.

The average elevation of Entre Rios Province is 119 meters above sea level.  It's doubtful that there are any 'highlands' around.  :)

I looked a few months back and couldn't find a source for decent sized yatays in the US. Ten years ago, they were more common for nurseries to carry.

God bless America...

and everywhere else too.
