I am happy to say my Trachycarpus fortunei recovered from the spear pull. After the spear pull the fronds look extra blue and I'm guessing the fronds are fully mature now. They have small spines and they kind of hurt. 

T.fortunei is very resilient. Typically the first recovered leaf will be from the petiole out to about half-radius. The others are normal.

Hope you feel a bit more confidence now.

Yeah i thought it was slowly dying until April when it finally showed it had a spear

I have one that was planted last year. It also suffered spear pull this Spring. (My local seed grown Windmill palm did not suffer the same fate.) It has since recovered after pushed two leafless petioles and a stunted frond. I'm watering very regularly in the summer sun and it does seem to be paying dividends. This set back isn't unusual in the initial year of planting from big box store offerings.

Did yours get cold damage as well as the spear pull ?

The cold damage is all the gray (dead) areas on the fronds. There's still plenty of green remaining so I won't remove them.

It's interesting all of the genetic differences windmills have, Yours looks very different from mine do your fronds not have the blue backsides ?

I have grown these since the early 1980's and have witnessed these variations in the same garden next to each other.
